Fort Flagler, Washington
I made a quick trip to Fort Flagler to do some birding while the winter birds are still around. This is a reliable place for a few birds, including Black-Bellied Plover, Sanderling and Dunlin. There’s also a single Rock Sandpiper that’s been hanging out with the Dunlin for the last few winters, and it was nice to tick that off my list for the year.
On the way out I made a stop at Mystery Bay State Park, where I happened across a bald eagle that had just caught a fish and got to watch it enjoy eating it.
A nice day trip with 30 species and a few nice photos.
