2025 Best Photos of the Year
It’s time to show off my annual gallery of my best photography of 2025. This is an annual tradition I’ve been doing since 2007, and you can see all the collections here. The 2025 collection is here.
2025 was a pretty good year for mostly bird photography. I added 216 images to my library, compared to 201 last year. Of those, 32 were ranked 4 stars (above average) and 12 5 star (portfolio quality), a nice higher than usual number. I was able to make a few trips to Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge and a trip out onto the Oregon Coast, which included a 90 minute drive to Tokeland in search of a Bar-tailed Godwit, a lifer bird that when I arrived was standing 25 feet from the parking lot waving and posing for a picture. Sometimes chasing rare birds is like that.
With my migraines pretty well controlled now, I was able to get out more often and do more, and I hope 2026 will continue that trend with even more and better photography.
